Stefan Petersen - Copenhagen, DenmarkStefan is everyone's favorite friend. I met him in 2012 while study abroad in Hong Kong. We had met in the local University bar, Billy Boozers. I didn't know him well enough to get the full grasp of who he was. Once I signed up for an Improv Comedy class, I realized how hilarious Stefan was. This guy has a true sense of comedy. I've never laughed harder than with him and my other friends while in Hong Kong. His presence is uncanny. He always has a funny line to say at the right time. He's a true comedian.
Besides his funny personality, he's a fantastic writer. The combination between his two skills makes him a prime candidate to become a successful funny man. He doesn't lack in the genuine department either. He's a great person as well as a friend. I hope to see him on the comedy stage in the next few years. It would be a travesty if others didn't get to hear his brilliant gabber. ~ Dan Hellinger |
What improvements do you want to see the Denmark make in the next 5 years? What aspirations do you want to achieve in life? |
"I hope for a transition to a more sustainable society with clean energy and where economic growth is an effective tool to pursue happiness but is not the goal itself. I also hope Danes (myself included) will learn to be more open and communicative with each other instead of living in their own headphone bubbles so we get stronger communities."
"I recently realized that it is important to me that I at some point start a family because my parents broke with a very bad social background and it would be a pity if neither me or my brother pass the positive development on. I hope to be able to keep travelling from time to time and learn from other people cultures. On top of all that I wish for a small garden where I can grow tomatoes, basil and strawberries."

What would you want to tell a fellow traveler about your home country? |
"Come during spring, summer or early fall. Winter in Denmark is very bleak. If we are lucky, we get a ton of snow. If not it is sleet, cold winds from the north sea and less than 7 hours of daylight. But this is also what makes the Summer amazing. Copenhagen and Denmark is build to be lived outside(and you will save a ton of money by drinking and bbq'ing outside of the overpriced bars). At the first ray of sun in the spring you will see the Danes invade the parks, harbours and beaches at any cost. That gung ho mentality is very contagious and if you arrive in early spring you might find yourself wearing shorts, flip-flops and a t-shirt trying to chat up a blonde girl in a summerdress even though it is only 10 degrees Celsius. Take advantage of the long summer evenings to swim in the harbour and spend a day feeling the vibe of the unique freetown of Christiania, which can best be described as a green, utopian hippie version of Hamsterdan from The Wire. It is hard to describe the place as it is the one place in Denmark that you will never, ever find anywhere in the world."

Stefan's Travel Story |
"There was that time in a small Mongolian mining camp in Sükhbaatar when a huge worker laughed and pointed to the wine glass filled with vodka and the bowl with fermented horse milk in front of me. He hadn’t shown any signs of speaking English but he knew one truly terrible English word: “Finish”. There was also that one special and nerve wrecking comedy show I did with amazing friends in Hong Kong. And once I pissed my pants because I thought me and a German friend were being attacked by small monkeys (in my defense I was already peeing when they screamed and charged toward us). But it is not the crazy memories I remember most clearly. It is the small stuff like the moments with family or friends when you just lie down on a beach and watch the stars, sit together and talk softly around a bonfire or feel the humidity on your skin when you look on a big skyline." ~ Stefan Petersen
