Lucia Damaschin - Chișinău, Moldova

I first met Lucia through Couchsurfing in Moldova. I was looking for a local's perspective on nightlife activites and places to see. She agreed to meet up and brought along her friend, Alina, and an American, Sam. All four of us hung out a few times while I was in town. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Lucia. She is a firecracker of a person. Her motivation to better herself everyday is a great aspect of who she is. Not only did she show me a great time, but she also gave me pointers on the hidden gems of Moldova. She's a fantastic person to be around. ~ Dan Hellinger

What improvements do you want to see Moldova make in the next 5 years?

Is money important or is the power of knowledge more crucial to you?

"First of all I’d really like  Moldova to be part of the European Union .We are still struggling to have a better life and things are pretty  rough here , but we still hope that we can change something . Also I hope that in five years people will be more tolerant and  also more united and friendly."
"I’d be a big liar if I’d say that money don’t matter at all, but knowledge  comes first. If you have no knowledge of this life and you are ignorant, you have no right to exist. Money is also important, but not the most crucial thing. You should check your priorities when thinking about life and happiness."

What aspirations do you want to achieve in life?

"My biggest goal is to travel and see the whole world and gain more knowledge about all the fascinating things of this world. I am striving to be a better person and to use all the opportunities that life offers me. I also hope that one day I will be where I want to and surrounded by great people."

Lucia's Travel Story

"I have had many crazy stories happening in my life, but I’d like to share an  interesting one that involves Daniel and also some other friends. I remember the first time when I met him. We partied with my local friend and another American and had a really nice time drinking wine, going to a local Moldavian club and then eating sushi after midnight. We didn’t sleep for 24 hours. In the morning we were so wasted that Daniel fell asleep and Sam - our other friend, found a homeless cat and made it stay by force in his apartment. It was really funny when we went to grab coffee. I was the only one being energetic and lively, while the boys were sleeping with their heads on the table and telling me that I was a witch." ~ Lucia Damaschin
