Jennifer currently works in Rotterdam, Netherlands

Jennifer Ying - Zwolle, Netherlands

I first met Jennifer while studying abroad in Hong Kong my senior year of college. Jennifer has always been a bright and fun loving person since we first met in 2012. Everywhere she goes, people enjoy her presence and friendship. This says a lot about someone who makes these types of impressions on others. Having an infectious personality will get Jennifer a long way in life.

I hope to hear more about her upcoming travels, life adventures and overall well-being in the next few years. She made an impression on me in the 5 short months we studied together.

What improvements do you want to see Ireland make in the next 5 years?

What aspirations do you want to achieve in life?

Is money important or is the power of knowledge more crucial to you?

"I'd like to see the Netherlands improve its law system. I feel that our judicial system is to lenient on crimes that should enforced more thoroughly. I would like to see the Netherlands take an approach like other European countries. The laws in Holland aren't as strict as the majority of Europe."

"It may sound cliche, but in 60 years I would like to look back at my life and to be happy with how I spent it. I don't want to have any regrets about things that I should or should not have done. I want to explore the world, make new relationships and experience life the way it should be spent; with family and friends. In the end, I want to have as many great memories as possible. The more I can laugh and smile, the better my life will look 60 years from now."

"I would lie if I'd say that money is not important in life. It does not mean that money can buy happiness but it does have an influence to a certain extent. Although I think that money and power of knowledge are correlated, the power of knowledge can help you achieve a higher salary."

"Being rich in experiences gained from traveling is what I see as more important than a few pieces of paper."

Jennifer's Travel Story

"I met this older gentleman who looked like a normal individual while walking around my hometown in the fall of 2015. At first he seemed pretty average, but as he talked to me he became more and more mysterious. He told me a story about his life that stuck out to me so much that I had to share it for your website.

He went on to tell me about his life experience and what he has learned. He told me he used to be a Vice President at the Porsche Car Company in Amsterdam. His job was to oversee the business side of the operations. He was given multiple cars for his personal use and millions of dollars to oversee this company. However, his happiness deteriorated because he never had the opportunity to work on his hobbies and didn't have enough time for himself. He never raised children or had a family.

So, a few months ago he quit his job to start his life the way he wanted it to be. After working his entire adult life to become the Vice President of Porsche, he decided life was way too short to work for someone else.

After he quit, he took up traveling as a way to bring more meaning to his once boring life. He has traveled all over the world experiencing things he only imagined in his head.

One of my favorite quotes he said was, "Your career is important to an extent, but that's not what life is about. It may sound weird, but being rich doesn't solely mean having a ton of money. Traveling has given me more than any amount of money ever did. Take it from me who has experienced the riches. Keep traveling for as long as you can. Money only helps fuel a small part of the desire to experience the world."

As I travel through life, I'll keep this story with me wherever I go. Money is important because it helps fuel the desires I want to experience. However, money shouldn't be the main focus for people looking to become rich. Being rich has a lot more meaning than having multiple cars and homes. Being rich in experiences gained from traveling is what I see as more important than a few pieces of paper."
