Irving is currently working toward becoming a lawyer in California.

Irving Partida - Tijuana, Mexico

As I was traveling through the Eastern Balkans, I stopped in Sofia, Bulgaria for a few nights. I met Irving on a pub crawl designed for our hostel. We hit it off at the first bar as we talked about traveling, our future plans in life and the overall fun we had on our previous trips. Irving's view on multiple issues surrounding the US and Mexico are beyond interesting. I hadn't met a Mexican who was so passionate about the way his fellow people should be living. He had deep concerns about the livelihood of those he knew back home in Tijuana, Mexico.

His goals in life are to travel as much as possible in the next decade while pursuing a law degree. Irving has a knack for wanting to help those who need help the most. His willingness to sacrifice years to achieve this type of knowledge says a lot about who he is as a person. I look forward to seeing Irving make a difference for his people in Mexico and those who have migrated across the border into California.

What improvements do you want to see Mexico make in the next 5 years?

What aspirations do you want to achieve in life?

Is money important or is the power of knowledge more crucial to you?

"I want to see Mexico without big drug cartel problems, a less corrupt government and more increase of infrastructure. I want Mexico to be less dependent of the USA. Mexico needs to start looking to create more business with Asia, Australia and Europe. We are too dependent of the USA and they are managing our own interests through US law. It's the reason why most of our governmental and social problems exist today. Being a third world country while being overseen by the US will only create more problems in the years to come. I don't see this issue being resolved any time soon. At least not in the next 20 years."

"I want to become a lawyer; not to practice law but to go into politics in the near future. I want to be a person who knows what the world is about. I would like to compile ideas from people around the world to create the best for those who need it most."

"Both money and knowledge are important. I need money to survive and with knowledge I would make more money. I believe they are both related to each other. For example, I need money to pay for my school, but my knowledge from school will get me a better paying job. Money can also help create my own job or business that will fuel my need to live my life the way I see fit."

"I would like to compile ideas from people around the world to create the best for those who need it most."

Irving's Travel Story

"The craziest story I would like to share would be the first time I traveled to Europe. I was 21 (A little bit older than others). I had only been in the USA and traveled in Mexico. I had never traveled over any body of water. I went to visit my grandmother who lived in Italy at the time. I decided to make a short trip of 9 days before I landed in Italy. I landed in London, UK by myself. I was totally scared. I stayed in a hostel even though I had heard horror stories about the living situation. Then I meet this Australian girl who was only 18 years old. She'd was going to travel for 2 months around Europe by herself! This shocked me. This changed the way I perceived traveling alone. I went to a few different countries before finishing in Italy. The overall trip was something I never imagined. Now I'm not afraid of traveling; I want more and more as time goes on. I have the travel bug. I see each of us having a different experience in country throughout the globe. It doesn't matter if a traveler has seen 10 countries or 100, as long as the experience benefits the life of that person as well as the people he/she meets. The relationships we make while exploring the world is the ultimate feeling. It's one thing to see an old statue alone in a country. It's another when you make friends and enjoy that old statue together." ~ Irving Partida
